SECURITY WARNING - FALSE EMAILS FROM IRS

A virus that is being sent via email and talks about an 'IRS payment' or an 'IRS refund' and the email has a word document attached (.doc extension). 

  Below is an example of what the email may look like:


 

DO NO OPEN THIS ATTACHMENT!

This attachment is malware and is being propagated via malicious links in spam emails and infect your computer with the Ransom Cryptolocker and other malicious executable files.

The attached Word document contains a VB macro that will download the malware directly to the user's machine.  When opened, the document will attempt to disguise its self as a valid Microsoft Office warning telling the user to enable Macros, like in the following example:
